A happier baby after open-heart surgery

My son Lenny was diagnosed with a VSD (a whole in the heart) and Mitral Valve Disease 4 months ago when he was 10 months of age. We found out on a Monday at home in Tasmania and the following day we arrived in Melbourne at the hospital and were preparing for his surgery.
Lenny had open heart surgery on the 18th of December 2019 and we spent 3 weeks at the Children’s hospital over Christmas. The cardiac staff on Koala Ward were amazing in this very traumatic time in our lives.
Lenny is developing well since his surgery and has put on much needed weight. He is a completely different child, much happier. He isn’t out of the woods yet though as he needs another surgery very soon. What an incredible place the RCH is.
