Kids Day Out 2024

Kids Day Out is back on Friday 18th April 2025

Get ready for Melbourne’s biggest and best free family day.

Join in a day of laughter, learning and entertainment, with mystery activities and spontaneous fun around every corner.

Program Highlights:

Teddy Bear Hospital: Bring your teddy bear along for a check at the world’s largest teddy bear hospital.

Carnival Zone: Thrilling experiences from Action Events! Rides include the Cha Cha, Chair-O-Plane, Pirate Ship, Atomic Drop Slide, Wrecking Ball, Rockwall climbing and inflatables.

Live entertainment: Live performances throughout the day on the performance stage.

Sports Zone: The sporting zone will include a relaython from Little Athletics, a 9 hole mini-golf course, Melbourne City Soccer, Special Olympics, GKR Karate, AFL, kids yoga and more.

Family Fun Zone: Unleash creativity with DIY crafts and other fun from Smooth FM, Pretty Little Braids, Kids Soiree, Children’s Ground, Uncle Bobs Club and a celebrity selfie station.

Classic cars: Check out all the shiny new and classic cars from the Thunderbirds Car Club

Emergency Services: Explore real-life heroes and their equipment from St John’s Ambulance, CFA, Vic SES, Coast Goard and Police.

Plus have fun with plenty of delicious fresh food activities and inclusive activities for every child.

Entry to the event is still free and all funds raised through activities will go to The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Once again, the event is possible thanks to the generous support of Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre and The City of Melbourne.

Teddy Bear Hospital

Bring along your favourite teddy or soft toy to our friends from the University of Melbourne’s Teddy Bear Hospital. Your fluffy friends will journey through our hospital and be attended to by our terrific teddy experts. From check-ups, ECGs, x-rays, physio sessions, music therapy, toothbrushing courses and much, much more!

Build-a-Bear

Join Build-a-Bear for the best in your bear-y needs. Offering the opportunity to find and buy a brand new fluffy friend, heart transplants and a special naming ceremony, you’ll leave Build-A-Bear and Kids Day Out with an undoubtedly amazing new friend by your side.

Bop Til You Drop

Come down to Bop While You Drop for all day entertainment, where everyone can let their stardom shine. Boogie the day away at our disco dance party, sing your heart out, join in on our group dances from the macarena to baby shark, or play away with our party games.

Uncle Bob’s

Join our friends at Uncle Bob’s Club for a whale of a time with their activities. Let out your inner artist in their craft section and paint your own cookies, then refuel with some snacks like popcorn, fairy floss or slushies! Get colourful with face painting, or if you’re feeling lucky, try your hand at the easter raffle.

Community Services

Spend some time with the heroes of our communities, running their own activities this Kids Day Out. Check out activities like Vic Police’s soccer club and sausage sizzle, CFA’s VR Game, St. John’s Ambulance CPR Lab, or come and say hello to the Coast Guard and SES to top it off.

Classic Cars

Everybody start your engines, because the Thunderbird Owners Club is ready and revving to go. Wander through the car display, down some delicious donuts, or take a moment to enjoy the kids play area. Cruise on down and enjoy some classic cars with us.

Carnival Zone

Bounce on the bungee tramps, ride the chair-o-plane, drive the dodgems, slide down the super slide, ride the Cha Cha, find your way through the jungle maze and many other fun rides and inflatables.

Family Fun Fair

Are you looking for some amusement? Well, you can join the fun of this fair with our exciting range of activities, including balloons and games, a digital photobooth, hair braiding, face painting, cultural activities, snow cones, and more!

Funtones

Does your kid love a good show? Recommended for children up to 6 years old, but sure to be a joy for anyone who's a kid at heart, join the Funtones on the performance stage for singing, dancing, laughs, and a whole lot of interactive fun!

Team Dream

Even though they’re Team Dream, there's no way you’ll be falling asleep during this show! Catch the energetic band Team Dream for a vibrant performance full of original songs and pop classics to move and groove to, all while promoting imagination, confidence and healthy living.

Pied Pipers

Join our friends Pied Pipers for another year of family fun. Cool down with some snow cones, have a romp about with their roving rabbit, check out their fantastic face painting station or even try your luck at their raffle. Check out their zone in our fun fair!

Vietnamese Community

Immerse yourself in our own little slice of Vietnam with this zone at our fun fair. Enjoy the range of activities on offer from exciting education, creative crafts, cultural games and dances. You can even make some memories by trying on some colourful garments and taking some family photos!

Star Wars

Be sure to keep an eye out for members of Rebel Legion Hoth Base and 501st Legion as they patrol the halls of Kids Day Out.

DJ FlexiJ

Join DJ FlexiJ, one of Melbourne's Best DJs on the kids dance floor at Kids Day Out! Head to the Carnival Zone through the day and then on to the Main Stage from 4 to 5pm to boogie away and finish the day in style!

Princesses

Meet your favourite characters from Disney, Gaming, Anime and Marvel. Our terrific teams of characters will be roaming the halls of Kids Day Out.

Getting there

Plan ahead and check out any disruptions to your trip at ptv.vic.gov.au

Trams: 96,12 or 109 down Spencer/Clarendon St. Stop at Clarendon St entrance

Trains: Travel to Southern Cross Station then catch one of the above trams or bus route 238 (arrives at Convention Centre Place entry), or walk 10 minutes from the station.

Parking: Parking is limited so please consider using public transport.

Be sure to take your fuzzy friend to the Teddy Bear Hospital for a checkup. They even have an x-ray machine and a dentist chair to polish your buddy’s teeth. Plus, explore the sensory space, dance along to a performance, unleash your imagination by creating an artwork, or holler with joy on a thrilling carnival ride.

at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, raising crucial funds for the Royal
Children’s Hospital.

For more than 150 years, the hospital’s superb staff have given world-class healthcare to children from across Victoria, turning frowns into smiles during difficult times. They have one of the most important jobs in our city.

With your donations, the Royal Children’s Hospital can continue their cutting-edge
research. They can maintain the latest equipment and technology, and run fantastic
programs to help Victorian families.

Melbourne is a fair city – in my view, the fairest in the world. In Melbourne, we look after
each other. It takes a caring community to support a caring hospital, and that’s why
Melbourne’s people have made the Royal Children’s a world leader.
