This has resulted in a phenomenal tally for the 2022 Good Friday Appeal. We are incredibly grateful to the whole community for their generous donations to this year’s Good Friday Appeal and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has come together to support The Royal Children’s Hospital. Thank you to both the Federal and State Governments for the generous contributions to the Appeal to ensure it remains a world-class facility helping sick Australian children and families.”
Rebecca Cowan, Executive Director of the Good Friday Appeal said: “We know that the past couple of years have been challenging for all Australians but it has been wonderful to see everyone come together and support the Appeal.
“For the first time in two years, we were also thrilled that our annual Kids Day Out was able to make a comeback and saw thousands of families come together and participate in the activities that support the Appeal. The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre was once again an exceptional host. To everyone who participated, whether in your small local community, donated, or tuned into the telethon to celebrate key donations, we thank you. The total is truly overwhelming and that is thanks to everyone who has come together to support the kids.”
From the millions of dollars donated by the RCH Auxiliaries, Woolworths, CFA, Henley and Villawood, The Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids through to funds raised by local lemonade stands, pub trivia nights and handmade craft stores, the Appeal sends its heartfelt thanks.
The Good Friday Appeal sends its heartfelt thanks to the Faces of the 2022 Appeal, Alex and Isla and their families for their incredible resilience and strength. Alex and Isla and their loved ones represent the thousands of patients and families at The Royal Children’s Hospital that benefit from the selfless donations and efforts from the community which help the hospital to be at the forefront of paediatric care.
This year, The Royal Children’s Hospital Auxiliaries celebrated an incredible milestone of 100 years and Channel 7 celebrated 65 years of supporting the Good Friday Appeal with another talent-filled telethon. The 2022 Good Friday Appeal has been made possible thanks to the thousands of committed collectors, volunteers, devoted tin rattlers, exceptional area managers, corporate partners, community groups and the people of Victoria. It is because of their dedication that Australian children are able to receive the best care possible.
Funds from this year’s Good Friday Appeal will go towards ground-breaking research, state of the art equipment and technology, education and family centred care programs. This year, funds will go directly to the Children’s Cancer Centre and CARES (4 Kids) which provides Cancer Allied Health Resources, Education and Supportive Care programs. The Children’s Cancer Centre sees approximately 1,400 patients a year, including 300 newly diagnosed patients per year.
