RCH saves Arlo – the ‘Heart Warrior’
At 20 weeks old, we found out our beautiful boy had a heart defect. We decided to give him the best chance at life and relocated to Melbourne for the next 6 months.
Arlo was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and critical aortic stenosis and underwent three surgeries before he was 6 months – the first being at 2 days old. We spent months in PICU, with lots of days of uncertainty and heartache but having our amazing team in Melbourne who went above and beyond to make us feel like family and ensure us at the times we needed it the most.
We flew Arlo home on the 28th of September and since then, we’ve watched him thrive and overcome so many milestones. We can never thank the team at Royal Children’s Hospital enough for saving our boy and making us the proudest parents of a heart warrior.
