With the rising demand for health services and the increasing complexity of delivering healthcare, it’s important that The Royal Children’s Hospital evaluates the best ways to provide great care to patients and their families.
That’s where Health Service Research (HSR) comes in. HSR evaluates how people access healthcare, what it costs and what happens to patients as a result of care.
Through this research, organisations like The Royal Children’s Hospital identify the most effective ways to manage and deliver great care.
Thanks to the Good Friday Appeal, The Royal Children’s Hospital is embarking on its first Health Services Research project to increase the quality, accessibility and value of healthcare.
Through this project, The Royal Children’s Hospital will continue to improve health outcomes for our sickest and most vulnerable children.
“The Health Services Research Unit will conduct studies and produce data to help the hospital, the Victoria Department of Health and the Commonwealth make evidence-based, rather than anecdote based decisions, regarding the organisation, delivery and financing of health care for children,”
– Professor Gary Freed, Visiting Scholar in Health Care Policy at The Royal Children’s Hospital.
