Woolworths Small Change Appeal
Woolworths supermarkets are holding a Small Change Appeal to raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal.
This October, Woolworths customers can help play a vital role in helping provide the best possible care for kids in hospital by supporting the supermarkets’ Good Friday Appeal Fundraising Appeal.
From 6 October to 2 November 2021, customers at Woolworths can simply purchase a $2 token or round up their purchase to the nearest dollar to donate to the Good Friday Appeal, the next time they shop in-store.
The Good Friday Appeal has partnered with Woolworths across all its Victorian stores for over 34 years.
Since 1987, customers have helped raise more than $24 million for vital services for patients and their families. Funds from the Appeal will be used to expand and enhance innovative models of care for children, including the Hospital’s in-house television program to help engage and empower children to cope better while in hospital, educational therapy programs to help reduce fear and anxiety, and pain management programs.
Malu Hunt and his family, have experienced first-hand the care and expertise of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) when at just 12 months old he was diagnosed with infantile spasms – a rare type of epilepsy in children. After a complex brain surgery, Malu spent four weeks rehabilitating at the RCH.
Malu’s Mum Erin Johnson said: “At just six weeks after his surgery he was up walking again, which was incredible because we didn’t really know what to expect. He might not have ever have walked again. The team at The Royal Children’s Hospital has been amazing and we are forever grateful for their care of Malu.”
Woolworths said: “Together with our customers, we’re pleased to continue supporting The Royal Children’s Hospital to help kids across Victoria like Malu. These donations have a direct positive impact on many families and proves a little bit of good can go a long way.
“The dedication and support of our team and the generosity of our customers means we can make a real difference in caring for the community, and we thank all our customers who can make a donation.”
Executive Director of the Good Friday Appeal, Rebecca Cowan said: “We are committed to making a difference in the lives of patients and their families at The Royal Children’s Hospital by funding projects that help provide the best possible care and we are thrilled that Woolworths is supporting our efforts to do so.
“We’re equally thankful to all customers for their kindness and generosity. These funds will help the Hospital remain a world leader in paediatric care.”
