Thanking our Volunteers
Volunteers form the backbone of the Appeal, and it wouldn’t be possible without each and every one.
Volunteers form the backbone of the Appeal, and it wouldn’t be possible without each and every one.
The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week is “We are the Change Makers”. We believe this statement is true of all our volunteers who are ensuring the positive changes The Royal Children’s Hospital is aiming to implement become a reality.
We thank everyone who donated their time, talent, and resources. We appreciate our Regional Area Managers, Community Groups, schools, sporting groups, individuals, and thousands of volunteers who contributed in ways such as tin shaking, phone donations, event assistance, and behind-the-scenes work, including the creativity and dedication of our fundraisers.
Last night we have recognized a few of our volunteers who are celebrating a special milestone, like Justin Tyrell who has been volunteering with the appeal for 40 years.
Justin’s journey as a volunteer for the Good Friday Appeal holds a special significance due to his deep family connection. His father had been actively involved in the appeal, working in the money-counting room. Justin followed in his father’s footsteps, commencing his volunteer work alongside him in 1983. In subsequent years, his two brothers soon followed. Within the money counting room, Justin has become a reliable and steadfast presence, serving as a pillar of support.
Reflecting on his experience, Justin attributes much of his fulfillment to the wonderful friendships he has formed over the years through the Good Friday Appeal. He cherishes the opportunity to contribute to such a remarkable cause and genuinely enjoys reconnecting with the familiar faces he has encountered throughout his volunteer journey. The sense of camaraderie and the shared commitment to making a positive impact make this volunteering experience truly meaningful for Justin.
