This National Volunteers Week, the Good Friday Appeal team would like to say thank you to all of our amazing volunteers for their ongoing dedication and support over the years.
We were as devastated as our volunteers were that they weren’t able to join us at events on Good Friday this year, hold all of their planned fundraising activities or carry out intersection collections. However, we are grateful for their commitment to helping us raise funds so that the children who need to receive treatment at The Royal Children’s Hospital continue to receive their world leading care in these challenging times.
Each year we are blown away by the number of people who put their hand up to volunteer for the Appeal and this year was no different.
Despite the challenges facing so many people at the start of the year following the bushfires, 765 of our wonderful volunteers still registered to volunteer at events, our Area Managers were planning incredible fundraising activities and our Collection Groups were preparing to hit the streets on Good Friday. Our army of volunteers were doing everything they could to help the kids.
When most events, fundraising activities and collections were cancelled due to COVID-19, our community’s continued support through the Virtual Tin Shake was beyond what we could have hoped for. Thank you for your unwavering commitment.
Volunteers are the backbone of the Appeal with many who have supported us for decades. There is no way we could have raised more than $381 million for the Hospital over the Appeal’s 89 years without the help of countless volunteers, who give up their time and expertise for the Appeal.
The Good Friday Appeal is turning 90 next year and we are looking forward to celebrating it together on Friday, 2 April 2021.
Thank you again to our wonderful volunteers!
