Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back to organisations making a difference. We’re taking part in this year’s campaign on Tuesday, December 3 to raise $100,000. Funds raised will contribute to the purchase of a new neurosurgical operating microscope at The Royal Children’s Hospital.
The Hospital’s Neurosurgery Department is in need of an updated next generation neurosurgical operating microscope that will help save children’s lives.
The next generation microscope will allow surgeons to see areas of the brain they currently can’t see. This will help them identify tissues or tumours that are out of the normal field of view and improve access to regions of the brain that are difficult to reach.
It is a hybrid scope that the surgeon can use in the traditional form, looking down through eyepieces, and also as a 3D scope with the images viewed through 3D glasses and a screen.
The updated technology also includes robotic functions. There is a fine hand held endoscope attachment which allows the surgeon to ‘see around corners’ by directing light and magnification outside of the standard field of view.
We will have just 24 hours to raise $100K to help fund the new microscope.
Mark the date – Tuesday, December 3 – on your calendar. Any donation, no matter the size, will help raise money for the vital equipment.
Help us spread the word by telling your family and friends about the campaign so we can make a difference to the lives of countless children.
The money raised on Giving Tuesday will contribute to the final tally of the 2020 Good Friday Appeal.
Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals and communities around the world. It is a day to give back to organisations making a difference.
